“KTM rides in a space which is sporty riding. There is also another world out there which is the world of easy riding, the world of Harley-Davidson, Triumph and Royal Enfield, this segment so far was the only missing piece in our puzzle"

The partnership will result in sub-500cc cruisers to cater to the Indian mass marker. A segment almost entirely dominated by Eicher's Royal Enfield up until this point. Bajaj is already the biggest exporter of motorcycles from India and with this venture Triumph could be looking to make India it's export hub.

The new motorcycles from this venture between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles are expected to be rolled out of the Chakan plant. Triumph will play a key role in providing design inputs. Bajaj Auto already owns about 47% stake in Austrian motorcycle firm KTM and it recently ended an eight year old alliance with Kawasaki. Reports suggest that it was also in the race to buy stake in Volkswagen owned Ducati
