Japanese and French automakers Nissan Motor Corporation and Renault will soon launch their newest offerings for the Indian market, cross-badged and developed, 5-seater and 7-seater SUVs.Â
In a concept teaser released by the Alliance partners they have previewed the styling for the upcoming SUVs, with each having a clear distinctive grille design.
The SUVs will be based on the CMF-B platform.
In what could be a further indication towards the revival of the Duster 5-seater SUV, Luca De Meo, CEO, Renault Group said that the upcoming product being planned for India has been a successful product in several markets including – Mexico, Romania, Latin America and Turkey among others.
At present, the Alliance partners have an installed manufacturing capacity of 480,000 units across its 2 production lines at the Oragadam facility in Tamil Nadu.
Of this the Alliance utilises less than 50% of production capacity and currently manufactures the Nissan Magnite (for India and Exports), Nissan Sunny (for exports), Renault Triber, Kiger and Kwid for local and export markets.
The partners are working towards accelerating not only the production, but also the launch concurrently. The model in discussion could be the Renault Duster and a rebadged Nissan.
