
German automaker Mercedes-Benz on Thursday launched the much-awaited GLC SUV at a starting price of Rs 50.70 lakhs in India. The luxury car is available in both – petrol and diesel variant; the former priced at Rs 50.90 lakhs and the latter priced at Rs 50.70 lakhs.
Mercedes GLC SUV has been launched as ‘Edition 1’ CBU, in both diesel (GLC 220d) and petrol (GLC 300) variants. Mercedes GLC SUV fills the existing gap between GLA and the GLE models which will compete with the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.
Mercedes had displayed the vehicle in February at Auto Expo 2016.
The diesel version is powered by 2.2-litre engine that produces 170 bhp power and 400 Nm torque, while the petrol version is equipped with 2.0-litre engine that churns 245 bhp power and 370 Nm of torque.
Mercedes GLC SUV’s both engine is motorized by the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and features permanent 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a dynamic select controller with 5 driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, as stated by the automaker.
Mercedes GLC comes with a raised suspension of 20 mm and has drag figure of 0.31 and total aerodynamic drag of 0.794.
Exterior
The Mercedes GLC SUV sports sturdy look and showcase the radiator trim and two louvers in matt iridium silver with chrome inserts. The other features include LED lamps, split LED rear lamps and sports 45.7 cm 5-spoke Alloy wheels. The Mercedes GLC measures 1639 mm in height, 1890 mm in width and 4656 mm in length, and a wheelbase of 2873 mm.

Interiors
With 7 airbags inside, the Mercedes GLC boasts of 5 star safety rating in EURO NCAP 2015. The automaker has tried to make it more attractive by offering high-gloss brown line structure lime wood, enhanced interior light package and cargo bars behind the rear seat backrest to enlarge the luggage compartment by 30 litres.
Service package:
The company offers two service schemes with standard packages starting at Rs 63,000 for petrol variant and Rs 78,000 for the diesel variants. The packages can last up to 10 years, claims the German automaker.
It also comes with ‘Parktronic’ option which provides Active Parking Assist which makes it easier to find a parking space and also to enter or leave parking spaces, claims the company.
The company has posted a highest sales figure at 13,502 units in last quarter in India and said that March, 2016 was the best month for the automaker in terms of sale.
