Mercedes-Benz India’s next new product will be the GLS SUV that made its debut at the LA Auto Show last year. Refereed to as the ‘S-Class of SUVs’, The Mercedes-Benz GLS is basically a facelifted version of the GL with a new nomenclature.
The Mercedes GLS gets a slightly updated front fascia with new LED daytime running lights, bigger logo, updated grille with dual-slats and sportier bumpers. It also gets new alloy wheels and body colours. While the overall design of the GLS’s cabin remain similar to the GL, it gets new features such as 8-inch touch-screen, new three-spoke steering wheel with Nappa leather.
Coming to safety features, the Mercedes GLS gets collision prevention assist, attention assist, crosswind assist, brake assist, electronic all-wheel drive (AWD) traction control with 4ETS, ESP, etc. The vehicle’s optional driver-assistance package additional gets active lane keeping assist, DISTRONIC PLUS with steering assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Pre-Safe brake with pedestrian detection and few other features.
While the global model of the Mercedes GLS comes in three regular trims – GLS550 4MATIC twin-turbo V8 petrol, GLS350D V6 diesel and GLS450 V6 petrol and one AMG trim, there is no clarity yet about the versions coming to India.
