Maruti Suzuki India on Friday revealed names of the products it is planning to showcase at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will unveil the Vitara Brezza, Ignis concept and the Baleno RS at the Motor Show. Besides new models and concepts, the company will also display a new-generation vehicle platform and a new engine at the event.
Maruti Vitara Brezza
Set to make its global debut at the Auto Expo 2016, the Maruti Vitara Brezza will be the company’s first ever sub-compact SUV. Designed and engineered in-house, the Vitara Brezza will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and other compact SUVs/crossovers in the country. The launch of the Vitara Brezza will take place in few weeks after its unveiling at the Expo on February 3, 2016. Though the company hasn’t revealed its specifications yet, we expect the Brezza to share its engine lineup with the Swift and Swift Dzire.
Ignis Concept
First unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the Suzuki Ignis concept is now all set to make its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo on February 4. This is yet another product that Maruti Suzuki India is planning to bring to our shores, and sell it via its premium dealership range – Nexa. This mini crossover, if priced well, could become a tough competitor to the recently launched Mahindra KUV100.
Maruti Baleno RS
In a bid to further increase its market share in the premium hatchback space, Maruti Suzuki is now planning to bring in a more powerful version of the Baleno to attract enthusiasts. The concept of the more powerful version, Baleno RS, will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The Baleno RS is powered by a 1.0 Boosterjet direct injection turbocharged engine. This engine is good for 112bhp and 175Nm.
The Auto Expo 2016 is scheduled to start from February 3, 2016. The public days will be from Feb 5 to Feb.
