
Mahindra XUV Aero concept has been designed in-house by Mahindra Design Studio, Mumbai
Mahindra & Mahindra today uveiled an all-new concept called the Mahindra XUV Aero, which will become basis for the company’s future flagship SUV model. The Mahindra XUV Aero concept is a coupe-styled SUV that has been designed in-house at Mahindra Design Studio in Kandivali, Mumbai.
“The Mahindra XUV Aero takes the spirit of the cheetah and gives it an urban manifestation of the beast; a coupe crossover with an aerodynamic silhouette, bold graphics and a butch stance.”, said the company. If it goes into production, Mahindra XUV Aero concept will be the first mass market coupe design-inspired SUV in the country. Other coupe-like SUVs available currently in the India are from luxury carmakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
With a slopping roofline, horizontally placed tail-lamps, large bumpers, several creases and prominent character lines on sides, the Mahindra XUV Aero concept looks quite aggressive. Upon its launch, the Mahindra XUV Aero concept-based SUV will become the company’s top-of-the-line vehicle.
Powering the Mahindra XUV Aero concept is a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which is the same powertrain that does duty on the existing Mahindra XUV500 model. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 210bhp mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The XUV Aero SUV concept is 4600mm long, 1680mm hight and 1890mm wide, and features a wheelbase of 2700mm. The new Mahindra SUV concept gets 265/45 20-inch alloy wheels. The coupe-styled XUV Aero offers four driving modes – Race, Off-road, Street and Sport.
The Mahindra XUV Aero concept also offers the latest communication and connectivity features. The SUV comes equipped with an embedded telecommunication module and a high-resolution touchscreen to control the infotainment system settings. The SUV also gets mult-zone climate control and on-board vehicle system functions.
Besides the XUV Aero concept, the home-grown automaker is also displaying customized versions of Mahindra TUV300 & KUV100, e2O with wireless technology and Verito electric.
Also on display is the India-bound Tivoli SUV that is developed by Mahindra-owned Korean SUV maker SsangYong. Upon its launch, the Mahindra-SsangYong Tivoli will rival Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano and other vehicles in the growing compact SUV segment.
