Delhi Government has decided to bring back the Odd-Even rule after Diwali. The scheme will kick start from November 13 to 20. This rule will apply to all vehicles including those registered outside Delhi. With the national capital surpassing the severe plus level over AQI 600, the government expects to increase further after Diwali. If you don’t have the luxury of owning multiple vehicles under both odd and even number plates, here’s a cheat code on how to travel to the office during the odd-even road rationing scheme.
The obvious choice: Electric Vehicles
Whether it’s an odd or an even day, one can drive their electric vehicle at ease and without any fear of getting fined. By reducing carbon footprint to zero tailpipe emissions, an EV is a trump card during the odd-even rule.
Living on the Edge: Two-wheelers
This is counterproductive to your health, but if one has to go to the office and you own an internal combustion engine-powered two-wheeler, then you can ply on the roads irrelevant of the odd or even day. We don’t recommend this option as a two-wheeler rider is completely exposed to air pollution, but if one has to go out then wear anti-pollution masks like N95 or N99 which filter the fine particles in the air.
Public Transportation
To ensure daily commute doesn’t come to a standstill, all public transportation like metro, buses and taxis are exempted from the rule. The government will increase its bus fleet by procuring more vehicles from private players and has already increased the frequency of the metro.
CNG vehicles
The government has exempted CNG vehicles, both commercial and private, from the odd-even rule.
