Auto Expo 2018: Honda will be one of the companies to look out for over the next decade, which is what makes their stall at the 2018 Auto Expo all the more exciting. Spurred on by the success on the front of the Honda City and the WR-V, Honda will be looking to expand on these spaces and bring back models from older space where they held dominance in previous years. Especially, considering that Honda mentioned that they would launch 6 new models in India by 2020, three of which will be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.Â
Honda Cars at Auto Expo 2018:
2018 Honda CR-V:
One of the most anticipated SUV to be unveiled in India for the first time at the Auto Expo 2018 is the new Honda CR-V. The seven-seater SUV is likely to play a crucial role for Honda Cars India to regain its lost ground in India and the latest version of CR-V is more aggressive and SUV looking and has already been launched in the global market. Unlike its predecessors, the Honda CR-V will feature third row seating and will also for the first time gets a diesel engine Earth Dreams that will address the biggest shortcoming the SUV had in India so far. The 1.6L diesel engine sheds a power of 160hp and 350 Nm of torque. Honda will build this engine locally and will also use the same diesel engine block for its other upcoming Honda cars such as the Civic in future.
New Honda Civic India at Auto Expo 2018:
Another popular model from Honda’s stable to debut at Auto Expo 2018 is the new Honda Civic that debuts in India after a long time. Honda will bring in the latest global facelifted version at the Auto Expo but is expected to make its market debut much later. Honda Civic has been a popular nameplate in India and the new one too will follow the sporty, low-slung design. What gives the new Civic serious character is the faux notchback look at the rear. Also, expect the new Honda Civic’s cabin to be updated majorly before the car goes on sale in India. Honda Civic will get the 1.8L VTEC engine and a new diesel engine at its India launch.
Next-Gen 2018 Honda Amaze at Auto Expo 2018:
In the mass segment, the new generation of Honda Amaze will be the biggest debut for the company at the Auto Expo 2018. First launched in 2013, the sub-compact sedan is due to a big update and now in 2018 after five years and 2.50 lakh units later, we will see a new avatar of Honda Amaze. Since the launch of new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the sales of other cars in the segment including Honda Amaze has slowed down and this new version can bring back Amaze among the top-selling car in the segment. Honda Amaze is expected to borrow its new looks from its elder sibling Honda City and the platform too will be reworded to meet the upcoming safety and emission norms.
2018 Honda Amaze will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options with petrol variants also getting the optional CVT gearbox. The car will make its market debut sometime in April 2018.
