2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift gets 60,000 booking within a month of launch: Waiting period at all-time high

One of the biggest launches to happen at the Auto Expo 2018 was the launch of the all-new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift. Which was launched at an introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh for the base petrol going all the way up to Rs 8.29 lakh for the fully specced diesel.

One of the biggest launches to happen at the Auto Expo 2018 was the launch of the all-new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift. Which was launched at an introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh for the base petrol going all the way up to Rs 8.29 lakh for the fully specced diesel. The hype was well worth it considering that this all-new Swift not only had lots in the form of updated styling but also uses the new HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno and the Dzire. That aside the new Swift will also get a whole host of new features, that could potentially make it the best selling premium hatch in the country. Maruti opened bookings for the new Swift late in January just ahead of the launch. What’s even more interesting is the fact that by the time the new Swift launched on the 8th of February, Maruti had already stocked up 40,000 bookings for the new Swift pan-India. Since then, they have received an additional 20,000 bookings which is testament to the sheer volume of the buzz around Maruti’s all-new Swift.

New 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift India test drive: Good enough to live up to Swift’s legacy?

In comparison to the outgoing Maruti Suzuki, the new car gets a whole lot of bells and whistles; for one dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, air conditioner, power steering with tilt adjustability and more. On the other hand, the top-end model now gets a host of premium features like – LED projector lights, LED DRLs, diamond cut alloy wheels, keyless entry and push-button start, automatic climate control, and SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Courtesy the new platform, the new Swift has more rigidity and is also lighter. The new chassis also allows for marginal reduction in overall length and height, the car is slightly wider and offers increased wheelbase, which translated to a slightly more spacious cabin. Although with 60k pending orders expect the waiting periods on the new Swift to be even more extended considering that Maruti is already quoting a 6-8 week wait after booking.
