Bengaluru woman fined Rs 1.36 lakh on scooter that costs half the money

A Honda Active rider from Bengaluru has been fined Rs 1.36 lakh fine for 270 traffic violations, which is way more than the value of the scooter.

As far as fines go, this Bengaluru woman is a strong contender, as she racked up fines worth Rs 1.36 lakh on her scooter, much more than what her Honda Activa is worth. But what’s more interesting is that the traffic cops enjoyed every bit of the stop-and-catch situation. Here’s what happened.

Violations were the norm

The images of the woman were shared by TV9 Kannada on its YouTube channel. The woman was observed riding without a helmet, sometimes with a pillion, riding on the wrong side of the road, at times, speaking on a mobile phone, and even jumping signals.

The cameras installed on the route she frequently travels – in and around Cox Town in Banaswadi – captured the woman violating traffic rules 270 times. When the police observed this, they had enough, and it was time to take action, and they did, handing her a fine worth Rs 1.36 lakh.

Roads getting safer, one at a time

While the police have tracked the offender and seized the Activa, it is not the first time in Bengaluru, as another Honda Activa rider was fined Rs 3.06 lakh for traffic violations! That said, there is no news as to what the status of the driver’s license is regarding the two offenders.

While to this woman, the violations may have looked harmless, there are much bigger consequences she had no regard for. She could have easily been on a motorist’s path, leading to a severe accident, while her own actions of not riding without a helmet could have been dangerous for herself.
