Ather is planning to bring out an all-new scooter at the upcoming Ather Community Day. Scheduled for a debut on 6 April 2024, the new electric scooter will be Ather’s attempt at making a practical, family scooter. The current line of scooters incline more towards performance.

Recently, in one of the advertorial campaigns Ather claimed that the Rizta will get the biggest seat available on any scooter on sale in India at present. The Bengaluru-based EV startup has disclosed yet another interesting feature about the upcoming scooter.

Swapnil Jain, co-founder of Ather Energy, recently posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, details about the company’s battery pack while excelling in a drop test. The short video shows the battery pack being dropped from a height of 40 metre with no significant damage observed. Ather claims that the outermost aluminium casing is the reason behind the strength of the battery pack.

Aluminium is not only lightweight but also a strong metal thus adding strength without adding too much weight. The video concludes with the presenter confirming that the same battery will be offered in the upcoming Rizta. In fact, Rizta will reportedly receive the same battery pack as the present 450 series.

Ather Rizta: Expected specs, features

As of now, Ather offers two battery pack options on the 450 range– 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh. It will be interesting to see which battery pack Ather opts for. It is possible that Ather might offer both the battery options in Rizta as different variants.  The 2.9kWh battery returns a claimed range of 111 km, while the 3.7kWh units offer a 150 km claimed range (both IDC figures).

In terms of features, Ather is expected to equip the Rizta with a touch-based digital instrument console, connectivity via Bluetooth and app integration, music playback, navigation, LED lights, etc. The scooter will roll on spoke-alloy wheels. Other expected features to be offered with Rizta include multiple ride modes, fast charging, etc.
