The middle-weight adventure motorcycle segment is heating up, as Aprilia has listed the Tuareg 660 on the Indian website, priced at Rs 18.85 lakh, ex-showroom. While this may seem expensive compared to the Kawasaki Versys 650 and even the Triumph Tiger 900, one needs to know that the prices listed are inclusive of import taxes.
Aprilia dealers say that the motorcycle will be imported as of now, and if the brand officially launches the motorcycle here, there could be a price decrease or a change.
The Aprilia Tuareg 660 uses the same engine that powers the RS 660 and the Tuono 660. In the Tuareg 660, the engine makes 80bhp and 79Nm of torque with the help of a 6-speed gearbox. Electronic nannies include traction control, ride modes, ABS, cruise control, and a TFT dash amongst others.
On the equipment front, the Tuareg gets USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends, wire-spoke wheels, LED lighting, a windscreen, and more. In India, the Tuareg will compete with the Honda Transalp 750 and the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE. However, with its pricing, it will be in the way of bigger motorcycles as well.
