Auto Expo 2018: It makes sense that the Hyundai will launch the 2018 Elite i20 at the Auto Expo 2018, considering that Maruti Suzuki will also be launching the Swift at the same venue a day before the Elite i20 is unveiled. The current generation Elite i20 made its; debut in 2014, and has been due for a mid-cycle refresh for some time now. The test-mule which began to surface around Hyundai’s plant in Chennai late last year gave us a hint as to what to expect from the refreshed 2018 Elite i20. One of the stand out features is the fact that the new i20 will get a lot of strong family lines from the Verna Sedan.
The new 2018 Hyundai i20 facelift is expected to get lots in the form of exterior and interior styling changes and a few new features. After Hyundai Elantra and 2018 Verna and Hyundai Grand i10 facelifts, Hyundai i20 is set to follow Hyundai’s latest design philosophy. The face of new Hyundai i10 gets a new front grille that looks a bit similar to that in current Hyundai Xcent but in honeycomb pattern. It will also feature a new headlamp cluster which is now integrated with LED DRLs. New front and rear bumpers and also new fog lamp cluster will compete the exterior changes on 2018 Hyundai i20 along with new alloy wheels.
On the inside, expect Hyundai India to change a bit of interiors to add a premium touch. New colour schemes, redesigned dashboard and a new infotainment system that supports both Apple Car Play and Android Auto along with Bluetooth and navigation.
In terms of engine and mechanics, the 2018 Hyundai i20 expected to launch at the Auto Expo 2018 will retain the the same 1.2L petrol engine and 1.2L diesel engine paired with 5-speed Manual Transmission and 6-Speed Manual respectively. The petrol version of Hyundai i20 also is available with an automatic gearbox. The i20 has been one of Hyundai’s strongest volume drivers in terms of sales following the Grand i10, we also expect Hyundai to use the Auto Expo 2018 as a platform to showcase the i20 Active Facelift. Aside from this expect the Ioniq EV to also make it to the Auto Expo along with the Kona Iron Man edition.
