Early September registrations were subdued
Early September registrations were subdued due to the GST cut, effective September 22, and a traditionally slow pre-festive period. However, festive demand, boosted by Navratri and GST rationalisation, has revived sales, with showrooms reporting increased footfall, enquiries, and bookings.
The GST rate cut, which reduced taxes on small cars and auto components from 28% to 18%, is expected to immediately boost sales, especially among first-time and young buyers. Maruti Suzuki alone sold over 75,000 units in just four days (Sept 22–25), compared to 135,000 units in August.
