BYD India has announced a Rs 50,000 price increase for the Sealion 7 Premium, effective January 1, 2026. The company said the Performance variant will continue to be offered at its existing price. Following the revision, the Sealion 7 Premium, which features an 82.56 kWh battery pack, will be priced at Rs 49.40 lakh (ex-showroom), up from Rs 48.90 lakh. The Sealion 7 Performance variant remains unchanged at Rs 54.90 lakh. BYD India said all bookings made on or before December 31, 2025 will be honoured at the earlier prices.
Updated Pricing and Booking Protection for 2026
In the Indian market, the Sealion 7 competes with premium electric SUVs such as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB. According to BYD, the Sealion 7 has crossed cumulative sales of over 2,300 units in India since launch.
Evolving Cost Dynamics and Network Expansion
Commenting on the price adjustment, Rajeev Chauhan, head of electric passenger vehicles business at BYD India, said the move reflects evolving cost pressures while maintaining the model’s value proposition in the premium EV segment, supported by its electric architecture, performance and safety features.
BYD India currently operates 47 dealerships across 40 cities, offering sales, service and charging support, as it continues to expand its footprint in India’s premium electric vehicle market amid rising input costs and intensifying competition.
