OVERVIEW
The GREEN TOURISM INDIA CONCLAVE is being organised by Indian Express Online Media in Shillong on 19th October 2023 in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Meghalaya Tourism is the Host State of this edition of the conclave. Apart from that, the rest of the 7 North-East State’s Departments of Tourism will participate in the conclave. The Conclave will put the spotlight on Responsible Tourism initiatives in the North-East as well as connect key stakeholders from Government and private players including tour operators, hoteliers, community tourism leaders and practitioners, and domain experts, both those based in the North-East as well as ones across India who organise, sell and promote North-Eastern tours.
The Northeast is an ecologically fragile and beautiful destination that needs a special kind of tourism which is sensitive to the environment and local communities. Responsible Tourism is the way forward and the Conclave will catalyse thinking in the right direction and set the agenda for North-Eastern tourism in the coming years.
The daylong conclave will see several engaging panel discussions on topics as varied as responsible tourism, community participation, luxury tourism, adventure, and so on. We expect major tourism stakeholders in the Northeast to attend besides participation from the government at the highest levels. Expert panellists will be drawn from across India so their voices and opinions can bring about positive change in the North-East by reaching the right ears. The sessions will be moderated by senior journalists from Indian Express Online Media Group.
