Hyundai Verna: Hyundai Verna in its fifth generation has made a comeback in a big way in a competitive space and is newest offering in the market in the mid-size sedan space. The 2017 Hyundai Verna is powered by a 1.6 litre Dual VTVT petrol and a 1.6 litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine. The petrol variants produce 123 hp of maximum power and 151 Nm of torque. The diesel versions generate 128 hp of power and 260 Nm of torque. The engines are paired to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol variants of Hyundai Verna are priced between Rs 7.99 – 12.23 lakh (Ex-Delhi) and the diesel variants costs Rs 9.19 – 12.61 lakh (Ex-Delhi).

Honda City: Honda City has been the star performer for the company for over 15 years now and time and again the company has updated with new generations, variants and facelifts. Honda City is powered by a 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.5 diesel engine, of which the 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine delivers 117 hp of power and 145 Nm of torque, while the 1.5 litre i-DTEC units produces 99 hp and 200 Nm. Similar to the current generation, the petrol engine is paired to a 5-speed manual and a CVT with paddle shifters and the diesel variants gets a 6-speed manual gearbox. Honda City also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Honda City price: The petrol variants are priced between Rs 8.58 – 13.56 lakh (Ex-Delhi) and the diesel variants of Honda City are available in four variants pried between Rs 10.83 – 13.62 lakh (Ex-Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz : Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sold through the NEXA dealership channel have been the most sold mid-size sedan for a few months now over taking Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento. The company also recently introduced the Ciaz S at a starting Rs 9.39 lakh (Ex-Delhi). Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was also the first mild-hybrid sedan by the market leader to feature SHVS technology. Skoda Octavia RS: If you are looking for a practical sedan and performance top’s your priority list then Skoda Octavia RS is built for you. The Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine that produces 228 hp of maximum power and 350Nm of torque. The unit is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the power is sent to its front wheels. Toyota Corolla Altis: Toyota Corolla has been the most sold sedan globally and rivals the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia. Toyota claims that it has sold over 44 million units of Corolla in about 150 countries and in the current form is the 12th generation of Toyota Corolla. Toyota is offering Corolla with 1.8L petrol and 1.4L diesel engines. Toyota Corolla is priced between Rs 15.53 lakh – 19.36 lakh (Ex-Delhi).

Volkswagen Passat: The first MQB sedan to be assembled by Volkswagen here in India at its Auragabad facility, The new generation Volkswagen Passat will go on sale around the first week of October. The company has already begun the production of its global sedan and returns to India after three years. The India bound Passat is likely to feature Volkswagen's 2.0 litre TDI engine, with a 6-speed DSG unit and is likely to make about 177 hp of maximum power. However, Volkswagen Passat is expected to be priced above of Rs 25 lakh.
