Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS SUV in India at a price of Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom). The flagship electronic SUV from the German marque comes to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit locally assembled at its Chakan-based facility. The battery-powered SUV is available in a single fully-loaded 580 4MATIC variant.
With the launch of the EQS SUV, India is the only market outside the USA to get two locally-assembled BEVs after the EQS sedan launched late last year. In fact, the EQS SUV shares a lot of similarities with the EQS sedan in terms of styling, equipment and specs since both are based on the same platform.

For starters, the EQS SUV gets a familiar face with a sealed-off nose featuring the three-pointed star at the centre and gloss black panel with similar motifs imprinted. The faux grille is flanked by a pair of LED headlights that are connected by a DRL strip running across the width of the bonnet. The side profile lends a minimalist appeal with flush-fitting door handles, and clean lines across the shoulder.

Moreover, the charging port is located on the front left fender. The gloss black wheel arches are filled up by 19-inch multi-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear end carries forward the connected LED setup with the taillamps.

Interiors of the EQS SUV boasts an array of premium features, including the optional MBUX Hyperscreen, a sleek three-spoke steering wheel, and ventilated front seats that are electrically adjustable for optimal comfort. The cabin also features a freestanding 12.3-inch driver’s display, a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite, and an expansive 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Additionally, soft-close doors are available, providing a luxurious touch to the overall driving experience. Safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Powertrain specs
Powering the EQS SUV is a twin-motor setup dishing out a combined peak output of 536 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque. The motors derive energy from a 122 kWh battery which promises a range of 809 km on a single full charge. The battery can be charged from 10-80 per cent in just 31 minutes with the help of a 200kW charger.
