Kia India has announced prices for the new-generation Seltos at Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning the SUV aggressively as it looks to regain ground in one of India’s most competitive passenger vehicle segments. Bookings for the new Seltos opened on December 11 for a token amount of Rs 25,000, with deliveries scheduled to begin from mid-January. Several variants are priced close to, and in some cases below, the outgoing Seltos, despite the new model being larger, more feature-rich and built on a new global platform.
The strategy places the Seltos directly against the latest entrant in the segment, the Sierra that launched late last year and is positioned at a slightly higher price band. The Sierra starts at Rs 11.49 lakh for petrol and Rs 12.99 lakh for diesel, with prices stretching up to Rs 21.29 lakh. While Tata is positioning the Sierra as a more premium, space-focused SUV, Kia appears to be targeting value-conscious buyers seeking high technology and features at a lower entry point.
New KIA Seltos competitors
Beyond Sierra, the new Seltos competes in a crowded market led by the Hyundai Creta, and faces rivals such as the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq that are due for a facelift soon, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and MG Astor. The new Renault Duster that will debut on Republic Day 2026 is expected to intensify competition further.
Built on Kia’s updated K3 platform, the new Seltos has grown in size, with a 95 mm increase in length and an 80 mm longer wheelbase, aimed at improving cabin space. Feature highlights include twin 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and an India-tuned Level 2+ ADAS suite with 28 functions.
Engine options
Engine options remain unchanged from the previous-gen Seltos, with three 1.5-litre engines on offer petrol, diesel and turbo-petrol paired with multiple manual and automatic gearbox choices.
Kia has also confirmed a petrol-hybrid variant, expected around 2027.India continues to be central to Kia’s global plans. The new Seltos made its world debut in India last month, echoing the launch strategy of the original model in 2019, and India is among the first markets globally to see its commercial rollout.
