Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has re-entered the commercial mobility segment with the launch of two dedicated fleet models, the Prime HB based on the Grand i10 Nios and the Prime SD derived from the Aura compact sedan.

The Prime range will compete directly with Maruti Suzuki’s Tour line-up in the fleet segment which forms a substantial number of the brand’s total passenger vehicle sales. The Aura-based Prime SD will take on the highly popular Dzire Tour, while the Grand i10 Nios–based Prime HB will rival the WagonR-based Tour H3.

Introduction of the Prime range

Hyundai had first introduced the Prime range in 2017 with models based on the Grand i10 and the Xcent sedan, but the line-up was discontinued as both models transitioned to newer generations. The revived Prime range, similar to its earlier iteration, features purpose-built specifications tailored for taxi and fleet operators.

Both Prime HB and Prime SD are powered by Hyundai’s 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine and are offered with petrol as well as factory-fitted CNG options. The Prime HB is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh, while the Prime SD starts at Rs 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are open across Hyundai dealerships with a booking amount of Rs 5,000.

Warranty period

The models come equipped with mandatory fleet requirements such as speed-limiting functionality and panic buttons, along with a standard three-year factory warranty. Hyundai is also offering a dedicated extended warranty covering the fourth and fifth years or up to 1,80,000 km for high-mileage usage.

On the safety front, ABS and six airbags are standard across the Prime line-up. Other features include four power windows, rear AC vents, driver seat height adjustment and steering-mounted audio controls on select variants.

Optional accessories include a vehicle location tracking device and a 9-inch infotainment system with rear camera and wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay. Hyundai has also introduced dedicated finance options tailored for fleet customers, with repayment tenures of up to 72 months.
