Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for its biggest car launch this year in the form of the all-new Swift. Recently, the Indo-Japanese carmaker teased the upcoming iteration of Swift on its social media handles. Ahead of its launch, scheduled later this week on 9 May, Maruti has already started dispatching units of the fourth-gen Swift to Arena dealerships.
Videos uploaded on YouTube channel Auto Addicts showing the new-gen Maruti Swift standing in a dealership yard have already gone viral. The base and mid-spec variants of the Swift namely LXi, VXi and VXi(O) have been spied till now. Maruti is expected to offer the new Swift in five variants— LXi, VXi, VXi(O), ZXi, and ZXi (O).
2024 Maruti Swift: Exterior design
While the overall design of the Swift largely remains intact, Suzuki has smartly incorporated some subtle changes. For instance, the octagonal front grille now gets blacked-out honeycomb mesh internals and gloss black surrounds. It gets sharper LED headlights with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, and a clamshell bonnet.
The MINI-inspired side profile is carried over from the outgoing model with a flat roofline and cab-forward stance lending its inherent sportiness. The India-spec model is likely to roll on 15-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels. The rear-door handles will now move to a conventional place underneath the window pane. At the rear, the taillamps look more squarish with different internals.
2024 Maruti Swift: Dimensions
The upcoming iteration of Swift will be 15 mm longer, 30 mm taller, and 40 mm narrower than the outgoing model. As a result, it will measure 3,860 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. That said, the new Swift gets an identical wheelbase of 2,450 mm as its predecessor.

Changes inside the cabin will be more significant, as compared to the exterior with the top-spec ZXi+ trim benefiting from features such as a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree parking camera with dash cam support, and cruise control.
The mid-spec variantá¹£, on the other hand, will get a smaller 7-inch touchscreen unit, and likely miss out on fog lamps and most of the features mentioned above. Other notable features to be offered in the new-gen Swift include automatic climate control, powered ORVMs, steering-mounted buttons, and push-button start/stop. In terms of safety, the India-spec Swift is expected to offer six airbags, electronic stability program, and ABS with EBD.
2024 Maruti Swift: Powertrain specs
As mentioned in our earlier report, the upcoming fourth-gen Swift will replace the existing 1.2-litre 4-cylinder, K12 dual-jet petrol engine with a brand new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol mill. Codenamed Z12E, this motor will also be available with a mild hybrid setup as a standard fitment across all variants of the new Swift. This unit is likely to churn out 81 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.
