Suzuki India’s social media channels have teased the launch of an upcoming motorcycle, and the looks of it point to the new V-Strom 800DE. The launch is set to take place on March 29, ahead of Easter. The 800DE replaces the tried and tested V-Strom 650 in Suzuki’s global lineup.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: What is it?
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is based on the new 800cc platform that consists of the GSX-8R and GSX-8S motorcycles. The V-Strom 800DE, which replaces the 650, was also showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show earlier this year and was also seen testing in the country.
Powering the V-Strom 800DE is a 776cc parallel-twin engine that makes 83bhp and 78Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle, apart from its ADV credentials, gets traction control, ride modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter.
We can expect Suzuki to price the new V-Strom 800DE at around Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom, pitting it right against its competition in India, the BMW F850 and the Triumph Tiger 900.
