India’s banks are transforming. They are investing heavily in digital technologies to catch up with the leading global competitors offering wide-ranging and sophisticated services. At the same time, current innovations, such as the adoption of CBDC or the growing need for personalised experiences to the customers, are creating a rapidly growing digital citizenry. According to reports, the future of banking is based on three key focus areas: Sustainability, CBDCs and hyper-personalisation. While each of these come with different opportunities and obstacles, sustained efforts towards achieving these are a must. - The pace and extent of CBDC adoption will depend on many factors, including regulatory frameworks, technological infrastructure and consumer adoption. But with potential benefits like increased efficiency, lower costs, and enhanced financial inclusion outweighing the risks, CBDC is expected to gain traction in 2023
