Florida Police on Wednesday night released a video of Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest. On Monday, the Florida Police had noticed Woods’ Mercedes pulled to the side of the road with engines still running. The police also noticed the car had its brake lights on and signal for the right turn blinking. Both tires on the left side of the car were found to be flat. And in what the police described as a dash cam footage, Tiger Woods seems unaware of where he was. In the video, Woods is seen unable to even walk as he stumbles and sways through a police sobriety test, before being arrested.
Roughly 15 hours after being arrested by the police, Woods released a statement saying, ““I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions,” Woods wrote in his statement, “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.” Woods apologised to his fans and pledged to “do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.” Woods closed his statement by thanking the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County sheriff’s office”.
ESPN quoted the official police report in the case, saying Woods was suffering from extremely slow and slurred speech. In the video, we can see the police officer asking Woods to do some basic tasks such as tying his left shoe but the golfer puts his right shoe on the car and unties it. Woods then is seen unable to tie either shoe and the officer had to take off both of them before conducting the field sobriety test on him. Woods is also asked to speak the alphabets A to Z slowly in a non-rhythmic manner but fails to do so.
