A private jet carrying 8 people on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Bangor International Airport in Maine, USA, CNN cited the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in its preliminary report. The air tragedy is said to have taken place on Sunday night (US time).

The first set of chilling visuals of the jet mishap surfaced on X soon after the news broke out. However, little was known about the events that led up to the tragedy at the time of writing.

A source briefed on the incident told CNN that the extent of the passengers’ injuries has yet to be revealed. As of now, the plane crash victims haven’t been identified either.

The plane involved in the incident was a Bombardier Challenger 650 business jet, as per US reports. It is said to have been registered to a limited liability corporation (LLC) in Houston, as per federal records cited by CNN.

According to CNN, crews responded to the incident around 7:45 pm ET. At the time of writing, its was reported that the airport was closed.

The saddening news came to light as America grapples with a brutal snowstorm. Temperatures in Maine were reported as being below freezing, resulting in light snow, which, in turn, prompted extremely low visibility.
