US President Donald Trump announced a trade and economic deal with China on Saturday night — with both sides agreeing to suspend retaliatory measures taken over the past six months. A White House press note also confirmed that Beijing would eliminate export controls on rare earth elements and open its markets to US agricultural exports.

According to the fact sheet released by the US government, China has agreed to suspend all retaliatory tariffs announced since March 4. This included levies against a wide range of US agricultural products such as chicken, wheat, corn, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, dairy and more. Beijing also agreed to suspend or remove non-tariff countermeasures taken against America since March 4 — including the listing of certain companies on its end-user and unreliable entity lists.

“My G2 meeting with President Xi of China was a great one for both of our countries. This meeting will lead to everlasting peace and success. God bless both China and the USA!” the POTUS had written on Truth Social ahead of the announcement.
