On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump appeared to give the middle finger to someone heckling him while touring the Ford River Rouge plant in Dearborn, Michigan. The incident reportedly happened after a person in the crowd shouted at him, calling him a “Paedophile protector,” likely referencing the Trump administration’s handling of files connected to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump flips off heckler during Ford factory visit in Michigan
A short video shared by TMZ showed Trump looking down from a railing, appearing to respond with a rude hand gesture. The clip lasts about 15 seconds, and TMZ claims the president also yelled obscenities before giving the finger.
The video showed Trump pointing toward the factory floor several times as he walked through the plant. He then appeared to flip off someone with his right hand. A second, zoomed-in video also captured the incident. TMZ suggested the person again yelled “Paedophile protector” while Trump stood in one spot. In response, Trump appears to point at the person and mouth or say “f*** Y**” twice.

A Ford spokesperson told TMZ that the company was proud of its employees but does not condone inappropriate behaviour in its facilities. “We had a great event today, and we’re proud of how our employees represented Ford. One of our core values is respect, and we don’t condone anyone saying anything inappropriate like that within our facilities. When that happens, we have a process to deal with it, but we don’t get into specific personnel matters,” David Tovar, Ford’s Executive Director of Corporate Communications, told TMZ.
Trump’s reaction came during a visit where he toured the Ford factory assembling F-150 trucks and later spoke at the Detroit Economic Club.
White House defends president’s reaction as “appropriate”
“A lunatic was wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage, and the President gave an appropriate and unambiguous response,” said White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.
Trump visited the Ford River Rouge plant in Dearborn, where the automaker assembles F-150 trucks. Following this, he gave a speech at the Detroit Economic Club, where he boasted about the administration’s economic record. Trump’s visit comes as he continues to promote his economic achievements, pointing to strong employment and low inflation. Despite this, public polling indicates that many Americans remain critical of the economy.
