Barron Trump, 19‑year‑old son of US President Donald Trump, has found his private life drawn into public view amid dramatic testimony in a London court case involving allegations of assault and rape against a 22‑year‑old Russian man.
The man, identified as Matvei Rumiantsev, was accused of assaulting and raping the woman who was in touch with Barron.
Jurors at Snaresbrook Crown Court have been told about a close online friendship between Trump and a British woman, including late‑night messages and video calls that played into the trial’s central incidents, AOL reported.
Barron was called ‘sweetheart’
According to testimony, the unidentified woman, who met Barron on social media, referred to him affectionately as “sweetheart” in messages, a detail that became a flashpoint in her relationship with Rumiantsev.
Rumiantsev, who is charged with assault, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice, told jurors he felt jealous and upset by the woman’s communications with Barron, though he denied controlling her or committing the alleged offences, according to Yahoo News.
Rumiantsev’s testimony described Barron Trump repeatedly calling and texting the woman at all hours, noting the time difference between the US and the United Kingdom. He described himself as “used to her receiving calls from him,” and said he felt uneasy when the woman showed him her messages from Trump during an argument the night before a violent incident.
Barron called UK police to report woman’s assault
A key moment in the court proceedings revolved around a video call on 18 January 2025, during which Barron reportedly witnessed the woman being attacked on FaceTime. Prosecutors presented a transcript of Barron’s emergency call to British authorities in which he told a 999 operator the woman “was getting beaten up.”
The woman later told jurors that Trump’s alert to police “helped save my life” and described the intervention as “a sign from God.”
Defence counsel has challenged some aspects of the woman’s account, calling parts of her testimony fabrication. The court has also heard earlier domestic disputes between Rumiantsev and the woman, including incidents involving damage to property and police calls.
