At least two gunshot victims were found at Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose, California, on November 28, as shoppers were gathered at the hotspot for Black Friday, according to the San Jose Police Department. Law enforcement officials also shared via X that the victims were transported to a local hospital, while units were investigating the shooting incident in the area.

In a follow-up tweet, the San Jose Police Media Relations account on X said that the Black Friday development was seemingly an isolated incident and not an active shooter.

Officers still continued evacuating and clearing the mall to firmly ascertain any semblance of an ongoing threat to public safety was ruled out. “Please continue to avoid the area,” the post added.
