In a dramatic case heard at a London court, a woman testified that Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, helped save her life after witnessing a violent assault during a 10-second-long FaceTime video call, a moment she described as “a sign from God.”
The incident took place in the early hours of January 18, 2025, when the 19‑year‑old Barron, then living in the US, received a video call from a woman, who is allegedly his friend. According to testimony, the call unexpectedly captured the woman being attacked in her East London home by her ex‑boyfriend, Matvei Rumiantsev, a 22‑year‑old Russian national on trial for alleged violent offences.
Barron called up 999
During the call, Barron saw distressing scenes, the woman crying and being struck by Rumiantsev, and immediately realised urgent help was needed. He dialled 999, the UK’s emergency number, and alerted police, emphasising the seriousness of the situation and providing the woman’s address. A recording of that call was played in court, in which Barron told operators, “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up,” according to British Brief.
Police responded to the address soon after and body‑worn camera footage captured officers asking the woman whether the distress call had come from abroad. She then revealed that she was friends with Barron Trump, identifying him as the person who had reached out for help. One officer was recorded saying that the caller from America “is likely to be Donald Trump’s son.”
In her testimony, the woman praised Trump’s swift action, saying his intervention provided her with the chance to get help and escape further harm. “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she told the court, according to The Standard.
Who is Matvei Rumiantsev?
The trial has revealed disturbing allegations against Rumiantsev, a Russian national and ex-MMA fighter. Rumiantsev, who was accused of being jealous of Baron’s friendship with the woman, has been charged with rape and assault.
He has denied both claims. The defence has challenged the woman’s account as fabricated, arguing inconsistencies in her testimony. Proceedings in the case are still ongoing, according to local reports.
