Refuting Turkey’s defence, Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Ankara knew beforehand that the jet they had shot down was Russian.

Putin asserted that the Russian planes had clear markings and the SU-24 bomber’s flight co-ordinates had been passed on to the US, Turkey’s NATO ally, the Mirror.co.uk reports.

The Russian president in his meeting with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, also slammed US for failing to stop the downing of the Russian jet near the Syrian border.

Hollande said he and Putin agreed to “increase information and intelligence exchange, intensify air strikes against Daesh , which will be subject to a coordination to increase their efficiency” and make sure that “the forces combating Daesh and other terrorist groups must not be targeted by our actions”, the daily quoted the French President as saying.

Putin specified that Russia will cooperate bilaterally with France and with the US-led coalition on the terror outfit but warned that he will not tolerate any more incidents like the downing of the Russian jet by Turkey. (ANI)
