Saudi Arabi’s King Salman is rich, very rich. But even then, his most recent spending spree has shocked and awed in equal measure. The King spent a whopping $100 mn on his summer holiday in Morocco, reports The Independent. King Salman went there on a holiday earlier this year in July. The king has a 74 acre summer palace built for the very purpose, and considering his importance, he was greeted by the Moroccan prime minister Saadeddine Othmani at Tangier airport. This is known to be the king’s favourite holiday haunt and the complex includes own medical facilities and luxury restaurants.
The Independent quoting Haaretz newspaper reports that the King went to Morocco for his annual break with a whoppingly big entourage of 1,000 people including officials and relatives. Arrangements for his kin, minister and advisers were made in the city’s premium and luxury hotels.
While that was current spend, King’s property underwent major renovations in 2016. From new buildings to helipads and top tent for guests’ entertainment being the prominent additions. According to the Spanish paper La Vanguardia, Saudi King’s visit this year is expected to account for 1.5% of the entire country’s foreign tourism revenue!
Moreover, 100 black Mercedes and Range Ronvers were arranged to escort the King and his cohorts, reports The Independent citing The New York Times. The King owns luxurious properties around the world including apartments in Paris, another chateau somewhere in France and a palace in Marbella.
