Police say they killed nine suspected Islamic militants in a raid on a building in Bangladesh’s capital. They said the raid took place early Tuesday in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur area.
It was the latest in a string of such incidents in Bangladesh. Earlier this month, 20 people, including Italians and Japanese, were killed when armed gunmen attacked a restaurant in Dhaka.
A Dhaka police officer says the suspected militants were killed when police raided a five-story building used as a den by suspected Islamist militants.
Metropolitan Police official Sheikh Muhammad Maruf Hasan said another man was arrested and is being treated for injuries in a hospital.
It is not immediately clear in which group the suspects belong to.
