EK 652, an Emirates aircraft from Dubai to Male, had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai. The landing was forced after smoke was detected on-board, according to ANI. The aircraft remains in Mumbai. The flight was carrying 309 passengers onboard. All passengers, including staff and crew are reported to be safe.
A statement was issued from the Emirates officials saying that the flight EK652 from Dubai to Male was diverted to Mumbai due to a technical fault. It has also been reported that all the passengers have been safely disembarked.
It is yet to be known if the passengers are to be allotted other flights or the same aircraft will take off after necessary precautions and checks. The aircraft’s scheduled departure from Dubai was at 9.50 am it was to land Male at 3.05 pm. The flight further leaves Male at 4:30 pm, arriving in Colombo at 6.30 pm. The on-going flight has been delayed.
