Nepal rocked by three earthquakes; tremors felt in India too

Nepal on Wednesday was hit by three consecutive earthquakes measuring 4.8, 5.2 and 4.3 at 6:14 AM, 6:29 AM and 6:40 AM respectively on April 24, hours after reports emerged that India’s Arunachal Pradesh was hit by an earthquake in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, news agency ANI has reported.

Earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.2 and 4.3 struck Naubise in Dhading District at 6:29 AM and 6:40 AM respectively and another quake struck Kathmandu with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter Scale at 6:14 AM today

Tremors in India
The earthquake rocked the West Siang area of Arunachal Pradesh at 1:45 am this morning.

The India Meteorological Department informed that the earthquake’s magnitude was 5.8 while the US Geological Survey put its magnitude at 6.1 on the Richter Scale.

The quake hit at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday (2015 GMT on Tuesday) and was also felt across the border in Tibet, the USGS has said.

The Assam tea-growing area close to the Brahmaputra River near the border with China and is thinly populated.

No reports of casualties and damage have been reported so far.

More details are awaited.

This day also marks the eve of the devastating earthquake that shook the country on April 25, 2015 killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring many more and comes a day after 16 people lost their lives and 81 were left injured in the Philippines after two earthquakes measuring 6.1 and 6.2 rattled the country on Monday and Tuesday, reports have said.
