Donald Trump ‘right on’ about economy: Carl Icahn

Chairman of Icahn Enterprises, Carl Icahn on Tuesday said that Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is 'right on' about his vision for the economy.

Chairman of Icahn Enterprises, Carl Icahn on Tuesday said that Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is ‘right on’ about his vision for the economy. Trump in an economic address had pledged to cut taxes for individuals and businesses. In an interview with CNBC Icahn said, “If he sticks with that economic theme, he should definitely win hands down, because I don’t know why you wouldn’t vote for him.” He also claimed, ” The ‘Archie Bunkers of the world’ will support Trump on the economy.” Trump in his speech on Monday said that globalism is the reason for the decline of the Detroit’s manufacturing. Donald Trump further outlined his existing vision to kick-start the economy.

Trump had put forth his plans for tax reforms, international trade deals, regulations of federal government and non-renewable energy sources. Icahn, expressed admiration for Trump in a series of tweets. He wrote, “Believe Trump gave a great speech.” He also praised the speech by saying, “How many of our presidents, even our great presidents, would have handled the antics that went on in that auditorium as well as he did?” Trump and Icahn are believed to be lose. Trump had earlier contemplated on making Icahn the Treasury Secretary which Icahn had accepted initially only to turn down the offer later. He also did not take up the offer to be on the economic advisory council for Trump.
