In a major national poll conducted post Hillary Clinton’s latest email scandal, Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump has inched closer victory. According to the poll, Trump led Clinton by 1%. The two candidates were however were in a statistical tie. Hillary Clinton has been leading the poll since May and it’s the first time the poll has seen such a phenomenon where Donald Trump is ahead of Hillary Clinton.
The same Donald Trump who who lagging behind by one point in the polls as of Sunday was leading it 46% to 45% in the recent poll. The two Liberatarian candidates, Gary Johnson and Green candidate Jill Stein could not climb the double digit club. The dates for this survey were taken from October 27th and 30th October implying that the announcement by James Comey that the new Clinton related emails have been found, could be the reason behind the figures.
While 53% of Trump’s supporter said that they were “very enthusiastic” about the server, Hillary only had 45% of supporters saying the same for her. Clinton’s figure slumped down by 8% from the previous poll when the FBI had not make any announcements about the ‘new’ emails. The survey was carried out by Gary Langer who said that the results were “exceedingly close”.
The poll which was conducted between October 24-30 by NBC News/Survey Monkey poll, pre Comey’s announcement shows Clinton leading 47% to 41%. Clinton’s lead is down by 2% in the aggregate polls from Real Clear Politics. As the FBI investigation escalates, the margin could narrow down.
