WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature called “Context Card” aimed at enhancing user safety in group chats

Reportedly, WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature called “Context Card” aimed at enhancing user safety in group chats.

It looks like the new feature is expected to provide you with more information about groups they are added to, especially by unknown contacts.

It often happens that when we get added to  a group, we are unaware of the origins and the people included in those groups.  And when users are added to a group by someone they don’t know, it feels quite awkward

In addition to this often users land up being targeted for different fraudulent activities.

According to sources, the Context Card builds on WhatsApp’s existing safety and privacy features.  Users can already control who can add them to groups through privacy settings

Furthermore, the Context Card will display key details such as: Who added them to the group– When the group was created– Who created the group– The group description

How can you add the feature?

Notably, the new update can make it convenient for you to get an idea of what a WhatsApp group is about.  So how can you add the new updates?

– Go to WhatsApp Settings.– Click Privacy > Groups.– Select one of the following options:1. Everyone: Anyone can add you to groups without approval.2. My contacts: Only contacts in your address book can add you without approval.3. My contacts except: Only selected contacts can add you without approval

The new WhatsApp feature aims to provide crucial information about unfamiliar group chats.  This can eventually help you in making informed decisions and protecting yourselves from potential scams.
