The JioTag Air is a Bluetooth based item tracker from Reliance Jio. It's technically Jio's second such device, a follow up to last year's JioTag.
One of the biggest updates with the JioTag Air is the native support for iPhones through Apple's Find My app.
This means that iPhone users can integrate it with Find My directly and the JioTag Air can then also tap into Apple's extensive network to enable even more extensive coverage.
On Android, the item tracker's core functionality is accessed through the JioThings app (it is also available on iPhone).
The JioThings community find network is rapidly expanding as more devices come under the JioThings umbrella, including JioMotive, JioTag, JioBook, LTE Smartwatches, and other upcoming IoT products, Jio says.
But Find My support is clearly the bigger USP, which also makes the JioTag Air compete directly with Apple's own AirTag.
The JioTag Air is made of plastic and has a lanyard cable attached at one end. It's a nifty value-add because it lets you tie the tracker easily to any item.
It has a single button for pairing and reset. A double tap on this button helps locate your paired smartphone should you misplace it.
There’s is also a speaker inside the JioTag Air that can produce loud sound ranging from 90-120 dB to help easily locate tagged items nearby.
The connection range is up to 20m indoors and up to 50m outdoors. The item tracker supports Bluetooth 5.3. Jio throws in an extra user replaceable battery in the box.
The price of the JioTag Air is Rs 1,499. it serves as a sleek and efficient solution to keep track of your valuables. It is also quite affordable considering the Apple AirTag costs Rs 3,490.
