OnePlus has announced Project Starlight, a Rs 6,000 crore initiative to accelerate innovation in India over the next three years.
The investment will focus on durable devices, enhanced customer service, and India-specific features.
Under Project Starlight, OnePlus aims to create devices that withstand the unique challenges of Indian conditions, including extreme heat and heavy usage.
The upcoming OnePlus 13, set for January 2025 launch, will be the first in India to deliver 5.5G connectivity, boosting speeds by 380 percent.
It will also introduce a customised signal optimisation feature for Delhi Metro users, ensuring seamless connectivity in high-traffic areas.
Additionally, Steady Connect, a new Bluetooth feature, will extend connection ranges up to 360 metres.
Gym-goers, for instance, can leave their phones in lockers while enjoying uninterrupted audio.
Last but not the least, OnePlus will debut the world’s first DisplayMate A++ panel on the OnePlus 13, improving legibility in direct sunlight while also being more resilient to the infamous green line issue.
OnePlus is also expanding its customer service network. In 2023, the company increased its service centers by 22 percent, with plans to grow by 50 percent by mid-2026.
Online services like WhatsApp support, live chat, and hotline assistance are being enhanced, ensuring faster and more effective problem resolution.
"India remains a top priority for us globally, and we continue to strive to earn the trust and affection of our Indian community," OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu said while announcing Project Starlight.
