The current wedding season, which will likely last till July 15, with an estimated 42 lakh weddings is expected to contribute around Rs 5.5 lakh crores in capital influx, as per traders’ body CAIT.

Delhi alone anticipates over 4 lakh weddings during this season, generating approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore in business revenue, according to CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal.

Expenditure estimates for weddings vary, with some weddings costing as much as Rs 1 crore or more.

Traders nationwide are equipped with adequate stock to meet the demands of the wedding season.

Approximately 20 per cent of wedding expenditure is allocated to the groom's and bride's sides, while 80 per cent goes to third-party agencies.

Jewellery, sarees, lehenga-chuni, furniture, readymade garments, clothing, footwear, wedding and greeting cards, dry fruits, and other gift items witness increased demand before the wedding season.

Wedding venues like banquet halls, hotels, and public parks are fully booked across the country, including Delhi.

A wide range of services including tent decoration, catering, photography, and event management see increased demand during this time.

As per CAIT, each wedding will have an expenditure of Rs 3 lakh while approx 10 lakh weddings will cost around Rs 6 lakh each.

Last year, around 35 lakh weddings took place during the wedding season ending on December 14, with expenses estimated at Rs 4.25 lakh crore.
