Homemade biryani recipe: A step-by-step guide to perfect flavour

Gather Your Ingredients Ingredients Needed – Chicken (cut into pieces) – Basmati rice – Onions, tomatoes, and green chilies – Ginger-garlic paste – Biryani spices (bay leaves, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon) – Yogurt – Fresh coriander and mint leaves – Ghee or cooking oil

Marination Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, biryani spices, and salt for at least 2 hours.

Cooking the Rice Cook the basmati rice until it is 70% done, then drain and set aside.

Fry the Onions Fry thinly sliced onions in ghee or oil until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Cooking the Marinated Chicken In a large pot, cook the marinated chicken until it is tender and fully cooked.

Layering Layer the partially cooked rice over the cooked chicken in the pot, then top with fried onions, fresh coriander, and mint leaves.

Sealing and Cooking on Dum Seal the pot with a tight lid and cook on low heat (dum) for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Fluff and Serve Gently fluff the biryani with a fork to mix the layers, then serve hot with raita and salad for a complete meal.
