The much-awaited R3 is finally on sale in India, priced at Rs 4.64 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle is priced slightly higher than the other new comer in the segment.
The Aprilia RS 457 is the new-comer the R3 competes with, which is priced at Rs 4.10 lakh ex-showroom. Both motorcycles are a great platform for new or experienced riders.
Built around a nimble chassis, the R3 features a full fairing, side-slung exhaust, clip-on bars, and a design inspired by the larger Yamaha R7.
So does the Aprilia, as it borrows its design form the RS 600, with a short tail section, under-belly exhaust, and an unmistakable Aprilia face.
Speaking of equipment, the R3 gets USD forks, 17-inch alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends, and a monoshock at the rear.
The Aprilia gets a similar setup, however, the front forks are pre-load adjustable, while also getting a radial calliper in the front.
Another big difference is the dash, as the R3 settles for a LCD unit with no phone connectivity or electronic aids apart from a dual-channel ABS.
The Aprilia gets a TFT dash while electronic aids include traction control, ride modes, and dual-channel ABS.
Powering the R3 is a 321cc parallel-twin engine that makes 41bhp and 30Nm of torque, with the help of a 6-speed gearbox.
The Aprilia gets a larger, 457cc parallel-twin engine that makes 47bhp. Also, the 6-speed gearbox gets an optional quickshifter option.
