A festive journey turned into a high-stakes airplane battle after a traveller slammed Alaska Airlines workers in Las Vegas who wouldn’t let her cram a pair of cats under her airplane seat.
The passenger, who was identified as Alexandra Compton was on way home to Portland, Oregon when an agent explained there wasn’t enough room for both of her pets in the same carrier, sending her into an angry rant.
“Show me the policy, then, before I booked the flight, that said that I had to have a certain weight of cat to go under the seat!” she snapped at the employee, according to a viral Tiktok video.
‘Why are you ruining Christmas’
Compton, who was dubbed ‘Two Cats Karen’ by netizens went on to rant: “You haven’t even seen my cat, so you’re not letting me go home for Christmas! You’re telling me I can’t go home for Christmas! Why are you ruining Christmas?”
The airline worker then calmly explained it wasn’t about the weight of the pets, but rather that the kitties didn’t have a full range of motion and would need separate containers.
The video, which has raked in 222,000 million likes on TikTok, then shows the airline worker asking her to lower her voice.
Compton also claimed to have travelled for “many years” with her kitties without any issues.
What is Alaska Airlines’ policy for pets?
Alaska Airlines’ pet policy allows up to two pets of the same species and similar size in one carrier for in-cabin travel, provided they fit comfortably, have room to move, and no body parts stick out. There are strict rules for carrier size fitting under the seat and often requiring an extra seat purchase for larger pets or multiple pets.
Compton ultimately bought a second carrier and got on a later flight with both cats, according to a Facebook post by Compton.
