Hopes were high. Indian fans of the K-pop boy group BTS had bet all their emotions that their favourite music act would include the South Asian nation on their 2026 world tour dates announcement. However, a rude awakening awaited the Indian ARMY (fandom name).

On January 14 KST, the South Korean sensation dropped the big news.

Fans were locked in for the major reveal, but nothing could have prepared fans in India for what lay ahead. The world’s largest country by population didn’t make it to BTS’ World Tour 2026 map.

The hard-hitting blow left behind emotional scars, especially since BTS member V aka Kim Taehyung’s heartwarming “Namaste Indian ARMY. See you next year” greeting on Weverse last month raised high hopes and expectations. However, it all came crashing down when the K-pop act seemingly “snubbed” India yet again.

And the result? Heartbroken fans took to social media to voice out their teary-eyed and disappointed confessions. One such video shared on Instagram amassed unbelievably massive reactions, as the viral video caught a young fan girl breaking down after finding out BTS had not included India on its world tour list.

Indian BTS fan’s father goes viral after world tour announcement

The viral clip pictured a girl crying over BTS, while her father patiently dealt with the issue by embracing his daughter. According to the IG video, the visuals were caught on camera by the girl’s sister and shared on social media. As of now, the original Instagram reel has amassed millions of views. Additionally, K-pop fans have since circulated the clip across other SNS platforms. Multiple such re-shares were found on X as well.

Their father’s endearing response to the heartbroken revelation ultimately stole the spotlight on social media. Fellow K-pop fans couldn’t help but smile at the vision, as BTS supporter’s father innocently raised questions while trying to grasp the gravity of the situation.

“Papa, BTS India nahi aa raha hai” (Dad, BTS is not coming to India),  the Indian fan was heard complaining through tears.

Trying his best to console her, the father then asked calmly, “Kaunsa celebrity hai?” (Which celebrity is this?). Once he got to know that his daughter was talking about an international music group, he reassured her that the band would eventually visit their home country soon enough.

While attempting to lift her mood, he joked, “ Phone number de mujhe” (Give me their phone number). His lighthearted response worked like a charm, as the girl couldn’t help but chuckle, while explaining, “Papa, voh K-pop idols hain. South Korea mein rehte hain” (Dad, they are K-pop idols. They live in South Korea).

Wittily hitting back, he continued to crack his daughter up, and subsequently the Internet at large, as he quipped, “Hum Uttar Korea mein karwa denge” (We will make it happen in North Korea).

All jokes aside, he then leveled with his daughter, affectionately promising her that they would book a trip to South Korea to catch BTS’ concert. “Bas challenge” (We will go), he continued reassuring her while doing his best to cheer her up.

How the Internet reacted to the viral Indian BTS fan video

The Indian fan girl’s viral video ended up healing a lot of hearts in the process. Not only did many relate with her feelings, they also mounted praises about the father-daughter duo and their loving bond.

On several occasions, fans, especially ones in India, have taken to X to anonymously confess how their family or friends unversed with the K-pop industry had ridiculed them for their love for a South Korean artist’s music.

And so, this particular Indian father-daughter duo’s playful banter over BTS hit a bit too close to home for quite a few social media users. Some questioned what all “good deeds” one must accomplish in their current life to secure a loving father like him in their next life. But, yet again, not everyone was on board with what certain users with a conservative mindset viewed as hyper-fixation on a South Korean band.

“The rising K-pop obsession is concerning. Indian youth are glorifying a hyper-materialistic culture that has moved away from its traditional religious roots towards Christianity and modernity. We should not let our children blindly imitate a culture that values consumerism over its own ancient heritage,” a user wrote on X.

On the other hand, even Swiggy India’s official Instagram account couldn’t stop itself from dropping a “Pookie Papa” comment on Instagram.

Will BTS come to India for its World Tour?

Currently, it remains unconfirmed whether India will land a spot on BTS’ world tour list. In its January 14 (KST) announcement, the K-pop group laid out a map encompassing dozens of countries around the world, including Japan, the US, and even multiple South-east Asian venues.

However, India was not included in the list despite the group’s agency, HYBE, launching its HYBE India office in Mumbai last year. Following the expansion into the South Asian country, the group’s company also announced the opening of BTS member Jung Kook’s solo exhibition “GOLDEN: The Moments” in Mumbai in December 2025.

Fans instantly interpreted the move of setting up the India-based subsidiary office as a signal for the next big thing: a BTS concert in India. In a previously filmed interaction, the septet had already confirmed that they had plans of performing in India in 2020 itself. However, the COVID-19 pandemic flushed the historic vision down the drain.

Although the first announcement for the 2026 BTS World Tour does not mention India, there’s still a possibility that desi fans’ long wait may be justified with the follow-up tour date reveal.

“More cities to be announced 2027 Japan, Middle East & More,” HYBE Labels left fans with this brief message, renewing hope in the hearts of some about India landing at least one concert date on the massive tour commencing in South Korea this upcoming April. Official word is yet to unravel, so do accept this consolatory pat on the back with a pinch of salt.
