After months of speculation, rumours and unanswered questions, Brooklyn Beckham has finally spoken about his long-rumoured fallout with his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham

The 26-year-old photographer and entrepreneur shared a long, emotional post on Instagram addressing what he called “years of lies” and “controlling narratives” about his family. His statement has shocked social media and brought attention back to one of Britain’s most high-profile celebrity family dramas.

Brooklyn Beckham breaks silence on split with parents

David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn, who is married to actress and heiress Nicola Peltz, finally addressed the media reports and his strained relationship with his family. In a strongly worded Instagram Stories post, he said he no longer wants a relationship with them and is standing up for himself. He spoke about how his parents have controlled the family’s story for years.

“Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn Beckham wrote.

Accusations of image control

Brooklyn also accused his parents of shaping the public story of their family through social media posts, events and staged relationships. He claimed they would “go to any lengths” to plant stories in the media and protect their image. He added that they spread the idea that his wife, Nicola, controlled him, calling it “a completely backwards” narrative.

“My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” he added.

Attempts to interfere with his marriage

In the statement, Brooklyn also said his parents tried to stop him from marrying Nicola and privately interfered with his attempts to spend time with them. He admitted he grew up with anxiety but said that stepping away from his family finally gave him peace.

“I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for our future family,” Brooklyn shared.

His statement comes after recent reports about his ongoing family feud. Tensions reportedly escalated when his brother, Cruz, said Brooklyn had blocked their parents on social media. A source close to the Beckhams told People that David and Victoria repeatedly tried to reconcile with Brooklyn and Nicola, inviting them to family gatherings and private meetings, but these attempts reportedly failed.

The Sun later reported that Brooklyn sent his parents a legal notice in mid-2025, asking them to communicate only through lawyers and to stop tagging or mentioning him on social media, which worsened the situation.

What caused the Beckham family tensions?

Multiple media reports suggest the tension began around Brooklyn and Nicola’s extravagant 2022 wedding. Disagreements over Nicola’s wedding dress caused friction and Victoria dancing first with Brooklyn instead of his wife allegedly left Nicola in tears.

The divide grew more visible when Brooklyn missed several family events, including David Beckham’s 50th birthday, his Knighthood celebration, Victoria’s Netflix premiere and Christmas 2025, and posted selectively about his family on social media.
