A video of a traveler showing the “other side of Europe” has gone viral, sparking a huge debate online. Indian travel vlogger Prateek Singh shared footage of trash-filled streets and crowded areas, showing a version of Europe that looks nothing like the beautiful photos and vidoes we usually see.
His video shows streets filled with litter. Singh points out that to get a Schengen visa, travellers must submit six months of bank statements, three months of ITR, other documents and also pay for costly flight tickets. Yet, according to him, Europe has “nothing to offer but heavily littered roads, crime and mismanagement.”
“After spending over Rs 10 lakh, you are coming to Europe to see this! You can see all this in India itself,” Singh says. He adds, “The reality is: Eastern world like Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore are leading the world right now in terms of tourism, infrastructure, and development. Europe and Western world are losing their status. And this is the reality.”

Filth on the streets, illegal immigrants, attacks on women and police on New Year, rampant crime after dark…

Claims of mismanagement in Europe
Singh also talks about mismanagement in Europe, citing the incident where the Dutch football team Ajax had to stop its match against Groningen because fireworks caused chaos.
He also mentions rising concerns about theft, robbery and illegal migrants crowding Europe’s streets.
Mixed reactions spark debate online
The video has gone viral on many social media platforms. Sharing it on X, one user wrote, “Filth on the streets, illegal immigrants, attacks on women and police on New Year, rampant crime after dark. One spends 10,000-12,000 dollars to go and see all that?”
Another user commented under Singh’s video, “I live in the Netherlands and I completely agree that the touristy parts of central Amsterdam are filthy. But I have never seen safety issues. And the non-touristy parts are extremely clean and beautiful,” the user wrote.
Another user wrote, “Chances of your fellow country men being the reason for such filth is high. Most locals blame East Asians and immigrants for such things. So stop bashing other countries and stay at home.”
One more comment surfaced where a user wrote, “The main reason for this are immigrants from countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and all the African countries. Import third world people and you’ll become third world”.
