It seems like Simone Ashley is not the only Bridgerton star with Indian roots. With the first-half of the hit Netflix series’ fourth season set to premiere on the popular streamer on January 29, its leading actors have already ‘waltzed’ into their new press junket era.

While fans are desperately waiting to unwrap the Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1 episodes, the new installment’s lead pair, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha have already set out on their swoon-worthy promotions trail. Much like how the forthcoming season of the beloved period romance is turning its focus to “bohemian second son” Benedict, the Internet was left speechless when the actor behind the character’s mask decided to drop an unexpected piece of family lore.

During one such outing, the Bridgerton Season 4 actor shockingly admitted to being part-Indian, leaving not only fans stumped online, but also his own co-star speechless.

Bridgerton 4’s Luke Thompson surprises with Indian ancestry confession

On January 15, a short clip teasing Thompson and Yerin Ha’s interview with popular Indian TV host Sakshma Srivastav, who is best known for her viral interactions with K-pop idols, dropped online. The ‘Bridgerton India Special’ video on Srivastav’s official YouTube channel generated quite the buzz as the actor engaged in a candid conversation with the interviewee.

During the course of that interaction, Srivastav worked her charms while attempting to woo the Bridgerton duo into believing why visiting India should be a no-brainer for them. Her remark instantly prompted Thompson, who is English, to reveal that he’s actually “a quarter Indian,” thereby shocking the host as well as his Netflix co-actor, Yerin Ha.

As they sat with their mouths agape, Luke confessed, “Yeah, yeah, my gran’s Indian. Indian-English, but yeah.” With the full interview being released on Friday, Thompson was heard adding, “It’s further up the family tree,” as he expressed his gratitude to Indian fans for loving their show.

Thompson even voiced his interest in coming to India to connect with his roots.

Srivastav ultimately posted the full 9-minute interaction on YouTube today. And soon enough, the clip particularly fuelled massive reactions on social media, including X, as fans were pleasantly shocked by Thompson’s confession.

Social media users on X couldn’t help but keyboard-smash their reactions on the platform after learning about Thompson’s Indian ancestry, which even Yerin Ha wasn’t aware of.

“WDYM LUKE THOMPSON IS A QUARTER INDIAN AND I’M LEARNING ABOUT IT TODAY ????!!!!” a shocked fan reacted online. Another wrote, “Luke T being added to the Wasian family tree in 2026 was not what I expected. WDYM WE’RE JUST FINDING OUT YOUR GRAN’S INDIAN??”

A third user wrote on X: “Luke thompson coming out as part indian during his BRIDGERTON press tour after they skipped his season is the funniest possible time he could’ve revealed that information.”

A fifth person quipped: “Our sources have confirmed that luke thompson and simone ashley are indian relatives.”

Yet another excited fan tweeted: “DESI LUKE THOMPSON FANS UNITE HE IS SADDA MUNDA (translates to ‘our boy’ in Punjabi).”

Some others, however, were too curious to be as excited as the rest, and demanded for more details explaining Thompson’s family tree.
