A viral video shared by a travel blogger has sparked a debate on passenger safety in first AC coaches after the clip appeared to show a coach door opening directly towards the outside of a moving train. The video has drawn widespread reactions online, with several users flagging it as a potential safety risk, whereas others dismissed the concern as misleading.
The clip was uploaded by YouTuber Deepak Vedi blogs and since then has circulated widely on X (formerly Twitter). In the undated video, the vlogger is seen opening the door inside a First AC coach. As the door opens, an open gate leading straight outside the train becomes visible. The blogger then raises a sudden concern that a sudden push or misstep could result in a passenger falling out of the train, terming it a serious lapse in safety design.
The exact train number, route, and location of the incident are not known. However, the video has crossed over 306,000 views within 24 hours, escalating the discussion about rail safety.

Indian Railways jumps to action
Responding to the viral video, Railway Seva, the official grievance redressal handle of Indian Railways, asked the content creator to share detailed information. “We request you to please share your problem in detail with your travel details, train number, date of incident, and mobile number, alternatively through DM with us,” Railway Seva wrote.
As of now, Indian Railways has not issued a broader clarification on whether the design shown in the video poses a safety risk or not, but the incident has raised concern about passenger safety standards.
How did the netizens and Railway reacted?
While the video has alarmed many viewers, some social media users highlighted that First AC doors are designed to open on both sides and that such doors are usually kept closed when the train is in motion. Others also blamed the content creator for exaggerating the issue because of views.
One user wrote, “That AC door opens on both sides. Just pull towards inside and its alright. And most of the cases, when the train is running the door will be closed.” Another reacted sarcastically, “Anything for content.”
The viral clip has drawn sharp reactions online. While some users dismissed the concern, others called for stricter safety checks. A user tagging railway authorities commented, “Please order an audit for these types of security risks. This is scary.” Another stated that the real issue was why the door of the running train was open in the first place.
Some reactions also demanded an automatic locking mechanism, with one user suggesting that cabin doors should auto-close when the train is not halted at a station to avoid any accidental opening.
