Virat Kolhi and co defeated Australia by five wickets on Sunday. With the win, India made it 3-0 and clinched the five-match ODI series. The opening Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane gave India a spectacular start with both the batsmen scoring 71 and 70 respectively. But the man of the moment was Hardik Pandya. Pandya’s innings of 78 runs in 72 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes helped him become the ‘Man of the match’. The Indian captain Virat Kohli described the all-rounder as a ‘great asset’ to Indian cricket. Pandya showed maturity after being promoted to number four in the batting order.
After the match ended, Kohli interviewed Pandya in the dressing room. When asked about how he feels about being adjudged the Man of the Match, Pandya said that he felt really good especially since he got the opportunity to bat at number 4. After this question, Kohli ended the interview by praising the player and even credited the last two wins to Hardik Pandya. The Indian captain also called Pandya a superstar.

Kohli had earlier said that the brain behind Pandya’s promotion to number 4 was coach Ravi Shastri’s. As per NDTV report, he said,”His promotion today was Ravi bhai’s thought. He felt we needed to attack the spinner. We totally back him and he’s a hard-working guy.” Kohli stated that Pandya adds balance to the team and Indian cricket was in need of an explosive all-rounder like him. The 23-year-old Pandya, who survived a dropped chance by skipper Steve Smith off Ashton Agar on 41, once again made it count for India after his 83 in the opening game in Chennai.
This was yet another complete performance by Indian side on a very batting-friendly pitch. Action now shifts to Bangalore where Australia would eye pride while India would look to extend their domination.
